"Backup, Backup, Backup" is the mantra of experienced system administrators.
Said three times to reinforce the best practice of performing three backups: One to a local disk for instantaneous restore, one to a network drive for near real-time restore and one to an offsite resource such as private cloud storage.
Although this is an excellent strategy in terms of disaster recovery and business continuity, it often takes careful micro-management and interaction with multiple vendors and applications. Couldn't it all be a little easier?
Comodo Backup Enterprise is the high performance, centrally managed backup and restore solution that allows businesses to easily configure recurring and dependable backup operations throughout their entire network infrastructure.
By offering administrators the convenience of running simultaneous backups to local and cloud storage, either per defined schedule or through continuous synchronization, organizations need never fear a disruption to business continuity as a result of corrupt backups. Comodo Backup Enterprise is able to make duplicate copies of the original data and upload to separate locations.
Comodo Rebound, an optional system restoration module, provides additional disaster recovery options by allowing administrators to instantly reverse any undesired changes to files and executables on mission-critical desktops and servers.
By creating multiple policies to define the data to be backed-up, the destination(s) to which the data should be uploaded, the encryption algorithms to be used and more, administrators can determine exactly where, when and how to preserve the organization's critical data. Comodo Enterprise Backup is scalable to hundreds of thousands of endpoints so policies can be defined for anything from the largest, continent-spanning, department right down to the smallest logical grouping in a network.
Optional deduplication and built-in intelligent archiving further allows the administrator to reduce bandwidth requirements and overcome storage limitations.
Managed Service Providers (MSPs) will benefit from the capability to manage multiple agents installed on multiple servers from one centralized browser-based management console.
Comodo Backup's comprehensive History interface records every action in forensic detail, giving administrators everything they need to maintain global visibility of all backup and restore operations.
Comodo Backup Enterprise further allows the definition of hierarchical administration rights whereby the Global Administrator can define backup administrators, restore administrators or any desired permutation of 'Custom' administration permissions to peer or junior system's admins.
Comodo Backup Enterprise will even perform those often overlooked test-restores by allowing the administrator to define scheduled data restores and compare the fully restored data with the original backed up data.
The product is rounded off with the powerful Report Builder feature, offering administrators the ability to design exhaustive custom reports and to view any metric in a pivot-table. Customized reports can then be exported to either CSV or PDF formats and run per schedule or on-demand.

FAQs
Keeping it simple, how does it work?
1) Create a backup
Set it
- Install the Backup Enterprise agent
- Select the local or LAN-accessible resources to be backed up
- Define the backup's destination (any disk/NAS/SAN/Cloud location that can be mounted as a drive letter)
- Decide whether the backup should recur on a scheduled basis or should perform continuous synchronization
- Configure the management and deduplication options
- Click 'Save'
- Forget it
2) Create a restore
Set it
- Log into the management console
- Select the backup job containing the required data
- Select the files/folders to restore
- Select the 1st or 3rd party destinations to restore to
- Decide whether the restore should recur on a scheduled basis (great for running test-restores) or run as a one-time operation
- Click 'Run'
- Forget it
What is 'continuous synchronization'?
Comodo Backup Enterprise will detect changes to your selected files in real-time and automatically copy them to your backup locations. This ensures you always have the most recent versions of your important data.
What is deduplication and is it any benefit to me?
Deduplication, sometimes called single-instance storage, means Comodo Backup Enterprise will detect any duplicate byte-patterns, then create a ‘pointer' to the duplicate instead of physically uploading and storing it.
Deduplication reduces bandwidth consumption and space requirements because the ‘pointers' are orders of magnitude smaller than the data itself. If you've used mail stubbing solutions before then you will already have used deduplication.
What can I back up to?
As above, any device, medium or cloud location that can be defined via UNC or mounted as a drive letter.
Are my backups encrypted?
Absolutely. You can even choose which encryption algorithms should be used in accordance with your HIPAA, FIPS, FISMA, FSA, DPA regulatory requirements. For cloud backups, we encrypt the data before it leaves your environment, encrypt the communication channel while your data is in transit and then store the encrypted data in your private encrypted container.
Do I back up to a local NAS or to cloud?
You can back up to cloud or NAS or cloud and NAS simultaneously.
Do I have to back up to Comodo's cloud?
You can back up to any cloud you choose, as long as it is accessible as a drive letter or UNC path.
If I use Comodo's cloud, what happens if I start running out of space?
Firstly, we are going to send you an email to let you know that you're running a little thin, so hopefully you'll never get that close. If you should run out of storage space during a backup though, we'll simply pause the job and once you have added the extra storage you can go into your Backup Manager and resume from where the backup paused.
What if I am backing up to a NAS and it runs out of space?
We'll pause the backup and notify you, giving you the opportunity to free up some space. When you're ready, simply click ‘Resume' and the operation will pick up from where it left off.
Can I throttle the bandwidth being used when backing up to the cloud?
Yes. You specify how many Mbps Comodo Backup Enterprise should use and we'll stay within that limit.
Can I prevent unauthorized access to my backup policies?
Yes. The Administrator Manager allows you to create other administrators and apply any permutation of access to backups, restores, reports, license management or any other facet of Comodo Backup Enterprise.
How can I be assured that my backups are successful?
Many backup solution providers determine whether the amount of bytes selected for backup equal the amount of bytes that got backed up. However, this alone does not always ensure that all your data is restorable. Comodo Backup Enterprise allows you to define scheduled restores, not just scheduled backups. Once the scheduled restore is complete Comodo Backup Enterprise will verify that the amount of bytes restored equals the amount of bytes selected for backup. In this way you can rest easy that all your data is secure.

Case Study
Advanced Endpoint Security has proven itself to be a solution which helps minimise risk. An added benefit has been the product's system administration capabilities, not found in products we have previously used, given a quick resolution to day-to-day requests for assistance we receive from our users.
Family Fund, UK
We really thought we were protected by our existing AV and managed email service. This virus was a drain on our resources. The experts from Comodo and our MSP got us fixed and provided a real approach for security. We will no longer take for granted that all solutions are created equal.
Michael Ricciarelli, CFO
We were in need of a reliable antivirus solution to reduce our exposure to massive amounts
of malware-serving websites currently being accessed
by students and to also help us fight against infected USB sticks.
Michael Allen, Technology Director
