Track to explore ever-increasing threats to national and cybersecurity and how to combat them
BERLIN, Germany – Nov. 21, 2016 — The ever-increasing threats to national and cybersecurity and insights on how to combat them will be addressed in an upcoming track at “The Digital Society Conference 2016: Defending Democracy – Increasing Innovation,” hosted by the Digital Society Institute. Comodo, a global innovator and developer of cybersecurity solutions, today announced that Senior Research Scientist Kenneth Geers will speak on the topic, Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Berlin, Germany.
The conference will address numerous contemporary concerns in information security, including the threat that political, law enforcement, military and intelligence requirements vis-à-vis cybersecurity pose to democracy and human rights around the world. Participants will speak on surveillance, privacy, censorship and social media, including their legal, industrial and technical challenges and solutions.
As a cyberwar expert and NATO ambassador, Dr. Geers will present the Info Ops & the Freedom of Expression track, which will address national security and civil society concerns, and will offer strategic advice on how to solve these challenging problems. The group, which includes experts from around the world, will publish their findings in a Springer Science book in 2017.
At “The Digital Society Conference 2016: Defending Democracy – Increasing Innovation,” Geers will join a high-status list of government representatives, threat researchers and academics. Other notable speakers will include Prof. Jörg Rocholl, PhD, president of ESMT Berlin and EY Chair in Governance and Compliance; Dr. Sabine Vogt, head of Division Serious & Organised Crime, Bundeskriminalamt; and Dr. Lior Tabansky, Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Research Center, Tel Aviv University.
