Comodo Earns the Only 100% Protection Rating among Free Security Providers by AV-Test.org
AV-Test.org proves Comodo is once again the only free antivirus to protect against 100% of malware infections.
Clifton, NJ, December 2, 2013 – Comodo, a leading Certificate Authority and Internet security organization, today announced that their Comodo Internet Security Premium (CIS) software earned a 100% protection score in the most recent evaluation period of AV-Test.org. Comodo made significant improvements to its false positive rate by decreasing the number of false detections of legitimate software as malware from nine to only two. Although six security products achieved a 100% protection rating, Comodo’s Internet Security suite is the only software that is completely free to the end-user.
The tests, carried out by software testing firm AV-Test.org, ran through September and October 2013 and continuously evaluated 25 home user security products on Windows XP (SP3, 32 bit). The most current publicly-available version of each product was tested and all products were allowed to update themselves at any time by querying their in-the-cloud services. AV-Test.org challenges security products to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers by focusing on realistic scenarios and real-world threats.
“At Comodo, we have committed our hearts, minds, and resources to the vision of a trustworthy Internet,” said Melih Abdulhayoglu, Comodo CEO and Chief Security Architect, “because we believe that human potential can be unleashed through a Trusted Internet. For it to benefit everyone, it must be delivered as a right to everyone; not as a luxury to only those who can afford it. With each 100% protection score earned from AV-Test.org, CIS proves that a free product can deliver equivalent or better security than any paid software. This fuels the fire that pushes the Comodo team to continue working towards our goal of creating trust online.”
Comodo Internet Security Premium creates a highly protective shield against viruses and malware through its innovative ‘Default Deny Protection™’ system. The software uses a combination of firewall, antivirus, host intrusion prevention, automatic sandboxing and behavior analysis technologies to quickly and accurately identify safe, unsafe and questionable files. While the core CIS software is identical across all versions, the paid versions are differentiated with additional services such as live support, online storage and encryption of Wi-Fi connections at public hotspots.
