So, what's the deal with HopSurf Social Authentication?

This is the deal: we here at Comodo created HopSurf for a few reasons. One, our designers were tired of making boring (yet effective!) PC security products, and wanted to have a bit of fun, so we decided to let them. Two, we wanted to create a way for people to not only share favorite sites with like-minded folks, and in the process introduce people to sites that were maybe kind of obscure, but also to let them experience these sites the way they wanted. And three, we wanted to contribute something to the new community that's formed on the Web, people blogging, sharing, ranking, rating…all the information-based stuff that's exploded into the public eye recently.

HopSurf's personal authentication learns from your interests. It's a web toolbar that turns your browser into entertainment.

So we came up with HopSurf authentication as a new way to approach the Web.

Here's a breakdown of some features:

• Use the HopSurf web toolbar to rate sites, "hop to new sites, send links to friends, and more
• In the mood to relax? Set the SurfTimer to anywhere from 5 seconds to one minute, for a hands-free web surfing experience catered to your own interests
• Attach digital sticky notes to pages for your friends to read. (This one's especially good for writing snarky comments about sites you don't like...)
• Find people who have the same interests even if your interests are a bit, ahem, unusual.
• The HopSurf social media authentication toolbar also includes Comodo's renowned SafeSearch function for protection against Buffer Overflow attacks, and a convenient Ask.com search bar for easy web searches
